| The first Claude Allouez Bridge |
The new Claude Allouez Bridge opened for traffic on Sunday, October 7, 2007.
The original Claude Allouez Bridge opened in 1932 and according to a 1998 study was in poor condition.
In March 2004, the De Pere City Council approved a plan to build the new 4-lane bridge, to replace the old two-lane bridge.
The vote was 5-4, with Mayor Mike Walsh having to break the tie.
Hence, construction on the new bridge began in August 2006.
Demolition of the old bridge is set to be completed by June 2008.
